My name is Kara Rodgers. My husband and I started this adventure in photography in April of 2012 with the idea that we would offer affordable options to those who wanted quality photos, but simply could not afford rates and fees offered by many others out there.
My interest in doing photography work came about for two main reasons: 1) I am the stay-at-home wife to my wonderful husband Jordan, and mother to our two precious boys Wesley (2yrs) and Evan (10 months). I was looking for a way that I could ease the financial burden on my husband and contribute financially to our home while still being able to be a stay-at-home mom. 2) In the time we have been embarking on this journey of parenthood, we have not had a family picture taken...I know- its a shame!! The main reason we have not done that is because we simply could not bring ourselves to pay the kind of money many photographers want for the style of photos we wanted. How many times I have said to my husband, "I just want a simple, good family picture done without 'having to pay an arm and a leg'"!
So those two things on my mind and heart we developed JKR Portraits, and took the motto, "Affordable. Flexible. Simplistic". Which is everything I had been looking for trying to get my own family photos done. As far as my style, well-- that's where "flexible" comes in. I do not like photos that look fake, but some do. I prefer natural light, natural posing, and simplistic editing work. But hey! I'm not the one who gets the say - the style is up to you and how you are most comfortable.
My goal is to produce something you will be happy with and something that will provide lasting memories...until our next photo session together!!

PS - I am very happy to report that during my time putting this blog together, our little family was able to get family pictures done! :) In April, the wonderful Tori Gillit of Adele Photgraphy in Burleson, Texas was kind enough to capture some precious photos of our family. Here's a peak...
